About the event

You believe in the students you work with. You want to support them in reaching their goals. You want to help them feel seen and acknowledged as whole people to help them build confidence and technique. You're well-intentioned. You want the best for them.

Students, though, seem to perceive something else: that class is a competition, that they have to earn your attention, or that there's only one correct approach. Maybe they brought those ideas with them when they arrived. Maybe they didn't.

What teachers want for their teaching and what they believe are too often at odds with what they communicate through their behaviors. Who teachers want to be and who students perceive them to be are not always aligned.

Even for the most experienced and well-intentioned teachers, the gap between beliefs and behaviors in the ballet studio is real and difficult to identify.
