Your students are athletes. That's not a controversial statement, but the way most ballet training is structured, you'd never know it. The warm-up is the same every class. The conditioning work, if it exists at all, happens at the margins. And the athletic qualities that actually protect dancers and extend their careers (mobility, strength, coordination, tissue resilience) get treated as someone else's job.
